  • Sodium Hydride

Sodium Hydride 60 %

Sodium Hydride 60 %
CAS Number 7646-69-7
EC Number 231-587-3
Chemical formula NaH

Sodium hydride is a very strong base with essentially no reducing activity. These properties are therefore used in reactions that proceed via the formation of anions. Examples are condensation reactions, e.g. Claisen, Diekmann, C,N,O-alkylation reaction and the formation of sodium alcoholates.

The product is used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, flavor & fragrance products, agricultural chemicals and for the polymerisation of organic products.

The product is supplied as a fine dispersion of NaH in a white mineral oil—Marcol 82—a pharmacopeia grade / FDA grade.

Packed in nitrogen purged thermally sealed 5 kg units, soluble in toluene or other aromatic solvents. Same units can be obtained in packaging materials that are solulable in THF or other organic solvents.
